This is why it’s so important to vote for your local judges after doing a minimal amount of research. Most people just pick whatever judge is there or has a funny name, but this woman is changing the way prisoners are treated and she was voted in by the county. Always do your research before voting for judges, but don’t discount it as unomportant. You may need someone like her on your side one day.

I really wish people on this goddamn website understood how age of consent laws work. They AREN’T a “this is the age any legal adult can fuck you” (unless they’re the same as the age of majority, which in places like Cali they are) they ARE a “this is the age in which two minors can engage in sexual contact without potentially getting misdemeanors for it” the age of consent being 13,14,15 IS NOT TO PROTECT ADULTS HAVING SEX WITH TEENAGERS, IT IS TO PROTECT TEENAGERS HAVING SEX WITH EACHOTHER FROM LEGAL CHARGES and even THEN if they aren’t close enough in age (say 14 yo girl and 17 yo boy) the laws will not apply and it’s still considered a criminal action in many cases.
